From Thursday, May 19 until Sunday, May 22, The 7th-grade student Martina García Flórez performed at the All Dance competition in Cali, while her brother Tomás García Flórez of 3rd grade went to the Swimming Copa Narval con Aleta’s competition. Martina got 2nd place in her category and Tomás came in second place in relays and freestyle.

Martina started dancing at the age of 4 at the Up Stage Academy, the dance styles for which she stands out are Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop. On the other hand, Tomás came to swim after trying out several sports, his parents always encouraged him to take part in physical activity until he decided to try swimming. 

“I feel great and immense joy,” says Monica Flórez, Tomás and Martina’s mom “As their mom, I feel very proud of them, because, in the end, their achievements are also mine”. Their parents have taught them the dedication and commitment to never miss a single training session, they also mention to them that they should enjoy and meet new friends. 

On the other hand, Martina expresses how the school has helped her to gain confidence when she enters a competition. “The school has helped me, as I am now a more consistent person. and I care more about my goals, I would like to participate in more competitions in the future, to become a better dancer”. 

“In the swimming competition I had it went super well, I got a participation button and a silver medal in relays, I’m happy that I won,” commented Tomás. “I would like to compete in the Olympics and race with a lot of professional swimmers.”

El día 19 y 22 de Mayo, Martina García Flórez de 7º se presento en la competencia All Dance en Cali, mientras que su hermano Tomás García Flórez de 3º se presentó el 23 y 24 de Abril en la competencia de Copa Narval de Natación con Aletas. Martina quedo de segundo lugar en su categoría, así mismo, Tomás quedo de segundo lugar en relevos y estilo libre. 

Martina empezó a bailar a la edad de 4 años en la academia de Up Stage, los estilos de baile por los cual ella se destaca son: Ballet, Jazz y Hip Hop. Por su parte, Tomás llegó a la natación después de intentar varios deportes, sus padres siempre le insisten en practicar alguna actividad física hasta que se decidió por la natación. 

“Siento una gran alegría inmensa” señalo Monica Flórez, mamá de Martina y Tomás “ También muchísimo orgullo de mamá, porque al final, sus logros también son míos.” Sus padres les han inculcado dedicación y compromiso para no faltar a ningún entreno, también les mencionan que deben disfrutar y conocer de nuevos amigos. 

Por otro lado, Martina expresa como el colegio le ha ayudado para obtener confianza cuando se presenta a una competencia “El colegio me ha ayudado, ya que ahora soy una persona más consistente y me preocupo más por mis metas, me gustaría a futuro participar en más competencias, ser mejor bailarina.” 

En la competencia de Natación que tuve me fue super bien, obtuve un botón de participación y una medalla de plata en relevos, estoy feliz de que haya ganado.” dijo Tomás “Me gustaría competir en los olímpicos y competir con muchos nadadores profesionales.”
