On Saturday October 9th, the 1st Community Conference of ASOBILCA grounds of the Colegio Colombo Británico. Teachers and academic support staff from the seven schools of the association took part, with a turnout of more than 450 people. Around 45 workshops on inclusion in the classroom and student-centred pedagogy were held. They came together to share knowledge, engage in group activities, and to bring them closer to each other through their experiences in education, all for the benefit of the students.
Members of the CCB Symphonic Band kicked off the event with a musical performance. Once the children began to play and sing a song, Havana by Camila Cabello, prepared in appreciation of the teachers, the spectators immediately rose from their chairs at the end of the song and applauded this important act that was quite demanding for the children.
Once the opening event was over, some teachers stayed in the Gymnasium to listen to Claire Harvey’s lecture on leadership in English, while others went to the AEB Laurence and Secondary auditoriums to listen to the talk in Spanish. Once finished, each teacher went to one of the classrooms where the workshops on inclusion and student-centred learning for which they had previously registered took place.
Each of the courses were conducted in a didactic way and were given by teachers from the different schools. The participants introduced themselves, said a few words and joined the corresponding group, thus generating a pleasant atmosphere where they shared their knowledge and asked questions in order to turn this space into a conversation where everyone participated and moved forward together.
In the development of this important event, the collaborative nature of all the teachers was evident, as well as the importance they gave to the meeting and the desire to learn and participate in new things.
This first meeting was a resounding success for the consolidation of ASOBILCA and at the same time left the CCB as the host school in very high regard, due to the organisation and performance of each activity. It is only the beginning of a new way of living this fraternity between bilingual schools in Cali, and we are looking forward to the next meeting in 2022!

El 1er Encuentro, ¡un éxito!
El sábado 9 de octubre se realizó el 1er Encuentro de la Comunidad ASOBILCA en las instalaciones del Colegio Colombo Britanico. Participaron profesores y personal de apoyo académico de los siete colegios de la asociación para un aforo de más de 450 personas. Se dictaron alrededor de 45 talleres sobre inclusión en el aula y pedagogía centrada en el estudiante. Se reunieron para compartir conocimientos, realizar actividades grupales y lograr un acercamiento que les permitiera asociarse más entre sí a partir de sus experiencias en educación.Todo esto, en beneficio de los estudiantes.
Miembros de la Banda Sinfónica del CCB dieron inicio al evento con un show musical. Una vez los niños comenzaron a tocar y a cantar una canción, Havana de Camila Cabello, preparada en agradecimiento a los profesores, los espectadores inmediatamente al finalizar la canción se levantaron de sus sillas y aplaudieron este importante acto que tuvo un nivel de exigencia bastante grande para los niños.
Una vez finalizado el acto, algunos docentes se quedaron en el gimnasio para escuchar la conferencia de Claire Harvey sobre liderazgo en inglés, mientras otros se dirigieron a los auditorios AEB Laurence y el de Bachillerato para escuchar la charla en español. Una vez terminada cada docente se dirigió a uno de los salones donde se realizaron los talleres sobre inclusión y aprendizaje centrado en el estudiante en los cuales se habían inscrito previamente.
Cada uno de los cursos se realizó de manera didáctica y fueron dictados por los docentes de los diferentes colegios. Los participantes se presentaban, decían algunas palabras y se integraban al grupo correspondiente, generando así un ambiente bastante agradable donde compartían sus conocimientos y realizaban preguntas con el fin de convertir este espacio en un conversatorio donde todos participaban y avanzaban en conjunto.
En el desarrollo de este importante evento, se evidenció el cooperativismo que tienen todos los profesores entre sí, la relevancia que le dieron al encuentro y además las ganas de aprender y participar de cosas nuevas.
Este primer encuentro resultó en un éxito rotundo para la consolidación de ASOBILCA y a su vez dejó muy en alto el nombre del CCB, como colegio anfitrión debido a la organización y el desempeño que tuvo cada actividad. Es tan solo el comienzo de una nueva manera de vivir esta fraternidad entre colegios bilingües de Cali. ¡Y estamos a la expectativa de lo que será del próximo encuentro en 2022!
