On April Tuesday 26th, until Friday, April 30th, the I Encuentro de Artes integradas de Asobical was held at the Centro Cultural and hosted by the Cañaveral International School. The theme of this year’s festival was Art and Resilience. There were presentations based on music, plastic arts, dance and drama.

Every year the Asobilca Integrated Arts meeting is held, the event includes two exhibition halls and external workshops for students. Twenty-nine CCB students from the Primary and Secondary section were chosen. As for the musical presentations, there were two different groups with two different levels in terms of age and musical complex.

“We have a great number of talents,” said Arbey Castro, the present music teacher. “Our commitment, more than giving them an instruction, is to open a way for them to project themselves and I would also like to highlight the support of the institution in terms of Art.

On the other hand, the Diploma students did some work beforehand in their IB exhibition, several of those works were taken to the cultural centre of Cali. Due to the pandemic some of the students didn’t have the opportunity to show their scenic arts presentations, however, the cultural centre gave them the possibility to share experiences with the Cañaverales school in a dance activity (Salsa).

“There were two moments at the art exhibition, The Traveling Canvas, which was a canvas of pre-designed images of the encounter and it was up to each school to paint each design to their own preference, the other moment was the 12th grade art exhibitions, which were artworks that they had previously made.” pointed out Alexander Marulanda Patiño, Art teacher.

A particular highlight was the unity of the students in the workshops and exhibitions. The guests of the event and the foreign visitors of the city were amazed by the quality of the designs that were display in the showrooms.

Congratulations to the students and teachers who made this festival possible!
